(tw: drug abuse) jeon jinkyu isn't known to be the best son, student, or anything he's tried to be. it's part of what drives him to keep going. since a young age, he's shown his rebellious side, lashing out at his suffocating parents and not giving a care from even his middle school days. with a cop as a father and a military general as a mother, he only felt disdain toward the very institutions and ideals they upheld with their careers and even their way of parenting. it was commonplace for him to misbehave, run away, break rules, get into fights, anything his older brother jinhyuk would have done had he not died from an overdose when jinkyu was only 14. knowing school wasn't for him before he even graduated high school, jinkyu secured a couple of part time jobs and moved out on his own, spending his time skating and attempting to make a name for himself in the skating scene.

at the beginning, it felt like another average day. jinkyu had a few days off of work since he had called in 'sick', figuring if mental health counted then it wasn't a complete lie. he headed to the skate park (halfway between his apartment and his family's home) to link up with a few friends, learn some new tricks, and just spend another good few hours outside doing what he loves most. in the middle of trying a move his buddy invented, he fell on the half-pipe. he sighed as he stared up at his companions laughing at the top of it, only to see them tackled by ghoulish looking people. blood splattered on the wooden structure, jinkyu reaching for the nearest board and whacking them on the head as hard as he possibly could.

with the most adrenaline he had ever felt rush in his body, he managed to break free from the situation, having shed the blood of his own friends onto his own hands. his vision was blurry as he ran as fast as he could, feet instinctively carrying him on a familiar path toward his family's home. he burst through the door, only to be met with his mother's body taken over by whatever evil force had seemed to be out and about that day.

"JINKYU! THE GUN!" his father yelled, his wife's grotesque figure grasping at his forearms. before the boy could even aim, she bit down on his father's skin. the noise was a scream, followed by a gunshot, and finally sobs of anguish. he had just killed his own mother, and putting two and two together, he also realized he would have to do the same to his father. despite their differences, and the constant head-butting, he knew it was harder to pull the trigger on them than it would have been doing so on himself. "please, survive this... i've always loved you, my son..." jinkyu pointed the gun at his father, eyes slowly turning to the other side, the humanity left in him nodding as a signal before the second gunshot rang in his ears.

he sobbed into his hands, only snapping out of it when a few zombies started scratching at the screen door to the back of the house. jinkyu retrieved his backpack and skateboard, running out of the house and out in the street before eventually ending up in his new workplace, starfield coex mall. the rest, he's been trying desperately to remember...
